Kino Kimino is the brainchild of Kim Talon who plugged in with Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth to record the ten sweetly serrated, sometimes volatile, post-punk songs on debut album Bait Is for Sissies. The album was produced by John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dinosaur Jr., Hop Along) and released on Wavves' label Ghost Ramp to accolades from Pitchfork, FADER, Noisey and more.
Next week, she kicks off the east coast March To Washington Tour, several shows of which will benefit Planned Parenthood and will include attendance at the Inauguration Day Women's March On Washington. Kim will be joined on stage by powerhouses Tarra Thiessen on guitar (Sharkmuffin, Ex-Girlfriends) and Jordyn Blakely on drums (Stove, Jackal Onassis). Full list of dates above or click HERE. Stay tuned for news of more shows being announced soon!
Kim shared why she chose to embark on this tour here:
"The upcoming inauguration still seems surreal to me. I can't believe the rate at which our society is accelerating backwards. Every morning I pinch myself, struggling to get a hold of our new reality, and then ask myself, what actions can I take to slow this catastrophic landslide? As a woman, especially, our current political climate is heartbreaking. It's impossible to fully grasp how we've come this far only to be on the brink of losing so much."
