A fun, clever and silly act for kids Billy Kelly and the Blah Blah Blahs brings its award-winning show - now on national tour -- to the Winter Center, 60 Cottage Avenue in Millersville, Saturday November 23. The show is preceded by an hour's worth of fun, hands-on activities for the kids including a musical petting zoo, created specifically for this show by Barry Kornhauser, beginning at 10 AM. Billy's show starts at 11 AM and is hosted by WXPN Kids' Corner Kathy O'Connell. This is the second show in the 2013-14 Fam Fun Fest series, which showcases nationally known acts for children and their caretakers.
As one of Kathy O'Connell's favorite children's bands, Billy Kelly and the Blah Blah Blahs, performs Billy Kelly's distinctive own "Kindie Rock" (Kindie = Kids + Indie) music. This original music has been praised by NPR's "All Things Considered" for its "endearing oddball sense of humor." Billy Kelly's song, "People Really Like Milk," earned the spot as the #1 kids' song on Sirius Radio. Out With Kids wrote, "There isn't another soul alive making music for children quite like Billy Kelly," and the School Library Journal hailed him as a "Jerry Seinfeld for kids."
Zoogobble described this singer, songwriter and musician from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, as the "Funniest Person in Kids Music." After making a New Year's resolution in 2009 to record and release a CD of songs he had written for his two daughters, Billy released his first CD, Thank You for Joining the Happy Club only a few months later. Ever since then, his music has been wonderfully well received by the kid music scene and, most importantly, kids themselves.
Kelly is now continuing to write music and create videos for kids while also playing with his new Band, Billy Kelly and The Blah Blah Blahs (which includes his friends: Bill, Jake, Steve, Katie and Evan). He has come out with several other CDs such as, Happy Club, The Family Garden, and Again, and has been playing shows with the Blah Blah Blahs all around the country.
