Kenny Loggins, the Grammy-winning singer and guitar player will perform at the Fred Kavli Theatre on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 8:00 pm.
Kenny Loggins rose to prominence as one half of the renowned duo Loggins and Messina, with former Buffalo Springfield producer Jim Messina. Their 1972 album "Kenny Loggins with Jim Messina Sittin' In," established the duo as one of the significant recording and touring acts of the 70s. When they split up in 1976, Loggins went on to release a stream of bestselling solo albums including "Celebrate Me Home," "Nightwatch" and "Keep the Fire." In the 1979, he won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year for "What a Fool Believes," co-written with Michael McDonald of the Doobie Brothers. He won a second Grammy Award in 1980 for Best Male Pop Vocal on "This Is It."
In the 80s, Loggins became more famous than ever with massive hits from movie theme songs like "I'm Alright" from "Caddyshack," "Footloose" from "Footloose" and "Danger Zone" from "Top Gun." In 2005, he reunited with his former partner Jim Messina for "Sittin' In Again" tour which proved so successful they took it on the road again in 2009.
Along with continuing to perform around the world, Loggins appeared as himself in the series finale of the Fox hit comedy "Raising Hope." He is also a member of Blue Sky Riders, a country music trio that released their debut album in January 2013.
