Singer/songwriter, guitarist, solo-artist and multi-Grammy Award winner Kenny Loggins is set to perform at the Orleans Showroom on July 5 and 6.
In 1977 Loggins released his first solo album, "Celebrate Me Home," followed by "Nightwatch" featuring the hit Stevie Nicks duet "Whenever I Call You a Friend," which was co-written by Melissa Manchester. In 1979, "This Is It," co-written by Michael McDonald, garnered Loggins a Grammy for "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance." The following year, the Loggis and McDonald collaborated again with the song "What a Fool Believes, which would go on to win a Grammy for "Song of the Year" in 1980.
Throughout the '80s and '90s, Loggins contributed hits to several well-known movie soundtracks, many of which were considered equally as popular as the film in which they appeared, including: "I'm Alright" from "Caddyshack," "Footloose" and "I'm Free (Heaven Helps the Man)" from "Footloose," "Meet Me Halfway" from "Over the Top," "Danger Zone" and "Playing With the Boys" from "Top Gun," "Nobody's Fool" from "Caddyshack II," and "For The First Time" from the film "One Fine Day," which earned Loggins an Oscar nomination, as well as a #1 placement on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.
In 2005, Loggins teamed up with his former duo partner Jim Messina for a tour that produced a CD and DVD, "Loggins and Messina Sittin' In Again." The two revived the tour in 2009. In 2007, Loggins released the album "How About Now," and in 2009 the children's album "All Join In."
Loggins is part of the group "Blue Sky Riders," a band he started with Nashville powerhouse Gary Burr and gifted vocalist and singer/songwriter Georgia Middleman. The group released its debut album titled "Finally Home" in January 2013.
