Kelsey Lu to Release Debut Album 'Blood' on April 19 Image

Kelsey Lu unveils the details of her forthcoming debut album, Blood, due April 19 on Columbia Records-see below for the full tracklist.

Of the album Lu says, "Blood is a recognition of the Pain, the Horror and the Beauty of finding the ability to observe it all in order to move through it. We live to die another day and in the end be hopeful of whatever there is to come or not come at all, and ultimately make love while doing it."

Blood is Lu's first project in three years since her critically acclaimed debut Church EP. Lu made the album with Rodaidh McDonald, with production on "Blood" by Adrian Younge and additional production on "Why Knock for You" and "Foreign Car" by Jamie xx, and on "Due West" bySkrillex. Blood also features work from Lu's sister the violinist Jessica McJunkins. The Blood album cover is shot by Tyler Mitchell, notably the first black photographer to shoot the cover of Vogue.

Blood features previously released singles "Due West," which Pitchfork calls "[Lu's] most arresting excursion yet," and her cover of 10cc's classic "I'm Not in Love."

This April, Lu is also set to perform headline shows in Los Angeles at the Masonic Lodge at Hollywood Forever Cemetery and in San Francisco at the Great American Music Hall. Lu will also perform at New York's new venue The Shed as part of the Soundtrack of America series curated by Steve McQueen, Quincy Jones and more.

Furthermore, Lu has been selected by Chinese-American artist and filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang (Björk, Kelela, Perfume Genius) as the accompanying musician for the annual Vivid Sydneyfestival's Lighting of the Sails. The event will see Huang project his Austral Flora Ballet onto the Sydney Opera House with an original score from Lu.

A vocalist, cellist and producer, Kelsey Lu left her Charlotte, North Carolina home at 18 to study cello. Her debut EP, Church, was released in 2016 on True Panther to critical praise. Now based in Los Angeles, Lu has collaborated and shared stages with the likes of Solange, Sampha, Blood Orange, Florence Welch, Kelela, Moses Sumney, Telfar, Jil Sander and many more.
