Live at The RRazz, San Francisco's premier nightclub, presents the return of internationally-acclaimed Smooth Jazz / New Age Keiko Matsui from January 30 to February 2. Her most recent CD releases include The Road..., which debuted at #2 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart, and Altair & Vega, recorded with Bob James.
Keiko Matsui - the Japanese smooth jazz/new age keyboardist and composer - boasts a career spans that three decades, during which time she has received international acclaim. Her compositions shimmer in a most natural way, blending artful elements of jazz, blues, and the traditional music of her native Japan. Dubbed the First Lady of Contemporary Jazz, Keiko often finds herself inspired by artist such as Stevie Wonder, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Maurice Jarre and Chick Corea. Tied together with her deeply rooted spiritual artistry, her music is powerful and introspective with both Eastern and Western musical influences.
Matsui's albums have sold in the millions, as well as being recognized by Billboard. She has won the Number Contemporary Jazz Artist award for her first album with Narada, Deep Blue, which held the number one spot for three weeks. She most notably also won the Oasis Smooth Jazz Award's Best Female Artist two consecutive years in 1999 and again in 2000. Her stunning live shows have earned legions of fans Worldwide and made her a favorite with concert halls and jazz festivals.
