Artist-producer Keenan has teamed up with acclaimed rapper Skizzy Mars and platinum-certified pop/R&B powerhouse Marc E. Bassy on his debut solo release - "Manhattan" is available now on all DSPs. The Boni Mata directed companion visual, which was shot in New York City and stars all three artists, premiered earlier today via HYPEBEAST - watch HERE.
On "Manhattan," Keenan's ode to his earlier years in the city, the artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer immediately attracts the spotlight. His throwback beat and lustrous keys comprise a lively framework for Mars to rhyme and Bassy to launch a soulful chorus punctuated by falsetto and horns.
"I like to make music with my friends and have been spending all of my time doing so ever since I learned how," Keenan told Hypebeast. "Sometimes my friends and I unintentionally make songs that depict stories in my life. 'Manhattan' shows the perspective of my early career, living in NYC skating around the city and making music with a disregard for everything else."
Born Michael Keenan in Western Massachusetts, the now LA-based talent is widely regarded as one of today's most in-demand producers known for helming G-Eazy and Bebe Rexha's 5x RIAA platinum certified "Me, Myself & I" as well as his work with such diverse talents as Melanie Martinez, Linkin Park, and both Skizzy Mars and Marc E. Bassy. Keenan is currently hard at work completing his debut project.
