New Zealand roots-reggae maestros' Katchafirerelease their second single and video "Way Beyond," from Katchafire's forthcoming fifth studio album. The track is engineered by five-time Grammy winner James 'Bonzai' Caruso (Damian & Stephen Marley, Madonna, Mariah Carey, Ice-T).
"Way Beyond" is lead by vocalist, songwriter, drummer, percussion and guitarist, Leon Davey. The talented bandmate also produced the track. Tere Ngarua (bass), Jonny Chong Nee (co-producer) and Stephen "Dubklaat" Maxwell (keys), Tony Peebles and Dean Fraser (sax), Dwight Richard and Rafael Postel (trumpet), and Wiremu Barraball (talk-box) all tighten the track for its easy listening, melodic goodness.
The cover for the single was created by Leon's son, Ataera Manu Davey, with the artwork representing Leon Davey, Logan Bell, Jordan Bell and Tere Ngarua and various band family members, showcasing the bright unity that embodies Katchafire. The four minute, thirty-one second video was filmed in Sydney, Australia and was produced by Polly Snowden (The Cat Empire, Bobby Alu).
J*Davey shares, "This song, Way Beyond, has come about from of all the good and bad in life, the people I've loved and lost, and the people who I love today. My family and friends have made my life what it is today, and for this I am blessed and eternally grateful. My life used to be self-focused; all the things that bring pleasure - trying to constantly fill a void that cannot be filled by me, alone. It is only in my older years, that I have come to this realization. Everything else is temporary."
With four successful studio albums, a mass fanbase and platinum sales, the band continues to sell out venues worldwide and is currently finishing up a leg of their tour in New Zealand.
