Singer-songwriter Kaitlyn Baker will help raise money for the Norton Community Hospital (NCH) in Norton, Virginia, when she performs at the NCH Foundation's 2014 Winter Gala on Friday, February 14. The concert will take place in the Goodloe Center at Mountain Empire Community College in Big Stone Gap, starting at 8:00 p.m., preceded by dinner at 6:30.

"It means a lot to perform at the Winter Gala, because Norton Community Hospital has been an important part of my life," said Baker, who lives in nearby Pound, Virginia. "It's the closest medical facility to a lot of people around here. I have been treated there many times for strep throat and other illnesses, and both of my mamaws have been there several times, so I'm happy to help."

Norton Community Hospital is a 129-bed acute-care facility in the heart of Southwestern Virginia's coal country. It has been serving patients from both sides of the Kentucky-Virginia border since 1949, and operates several primary care clinics throughout the region. Funds raised through the upcoming Winter Gala will help support the purchase of equipment for the hospital's renovated surgical suite and FitOne Wellness Center.

Baker, whose popularity has risen in Virginia and Kentucky since she began performing as a young girl, recently signed a recording contract with Silvercreek Records in Nashville. The 19-year-old had previously released three self-produced albums. Her first album on the Silvercreek label is planned for release this summer. She has described her style as "bluesy, country-rock that's a little sassy."

Baker was discovered and is managed and co-produced by Scott Arnold in Knoxville, Tennessee. Baker has co-written songs with several established Nashville songwriters and has opened for artists including Billy Currington, Doug Stone, Sawyer Brown, Rhonda Vincent, Sammy Kershaw, Brett Eldredge and Josh Gracin.
