KORN--one of the most influential rock bands of modern times-have been nominated for a Grammy Award in the "Best Metal Performance" category for "Rotting In Vain." News of the nomination this week coincides with line-up announcements for major U.S. rock fests Carolina Rebellion and Rock On The Range where KORN will helm headlining slots on each this coming May.

"Rotting In Vain"-which has been streamed over 8 million times since its debut--appears on KORN's 12th studio album THE SERENITY OF SUFFERING (Roadrunner Records) and marks their seventh Grammy nomination (with two wins) following other nods in the "Best Metal Performance" category for "Shoots And Ladders" (1997), "No Place To Hide" (1998), "Here To Stay" (Winner-2003), "Did My Time" (2004) and "Let The Guilt Go" (2011). "Freak On A Leash" (2000) also garnered noms for "Best Hard Rock Performance" (Winner) and "Best Short Form Music Video."

KORN--Jonathan Davis (vocals), James "Munky" Shaffer (guitar), Brian "Head" Welch (guitar), Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu (bass) and Ray Luzier (drums)-debuted "Rotting In Vain" in front of 25,000 people during a thunderous set at Chicago's Open Air festival this past July. They followed with its macabre video lensed by famed rock video director Dean Karr and starring "Sons of Anarchy" actor Tommy Flanagan along with KORN. Capturing the essence of the song, the video taps into the dark underbelly of a bizarre world.View the video-which has amassed over 10 million views--now here: https://youtu.be/nq9j1qkj2Vc Rolling Stone also took a look behind the scenes: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/videos/korns-rotting-in-vain-video-go-behind-the-scenes-w430705
"'Rotting in Vain' was written about being in that black place, being in situations that I don't like in life--be it relationships, or feeling when you're stuck and you're just being abused or you don't like where you're at, and you just sit there and rot," shares Jonathan Davis. "It takes you years and years to figure out how to claw your way out. That's where 'Rotting in Vain' came from. I'm just sitting there, fing dying and letting it happen for years and years and not helping myself to get out of that place. That's the vibe that inspired the song."
With 40+ million in career spanning album sales, two GRAMMY Awards, 15 million social media followers between Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and over 22 years of non-stop touring sold-out arenas and headlining festivals, KORN's accolades are unparalleled. The band that forged a distinctive blend of rock and metal that continues to be celebrated by fans two decades later, marked the October 21 release of THE SERENITY OF SUFFERING by entering at #4 on the Billboard 200, #1 on both the Top Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts, and #3 on the Current Albums chart.
With the release of THE SERENITY OF SUFFERING, KORN joined an elite group of rock bands to achieve multiple placements in the Top 10 on the Billboard 200 with 10 albums on the chart. According to Billboard, "Korn's top 10 count on the Billboard 200 is now equal to Led Zeppelin. The only rock bands with more top 10s are The Rolling Stones (with 36), The Beatles (32), Dave Matthews Band (15), Santana (14) and Van Halen (14)."
Produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Deftones, Mastodon), THE SERENITY OF SUFFERING was heralded by The Observer(10/21/16)as "...the band's most intense release in a decade." It's highlighted by a return to a dual-guitar dynamic and some of front man Jonathan Davis' most inspired moments of self-reflection and expression. It finds KORN harnessing all the anger, power and trademark balance of darkness and light that made their name all those years ago with such tracks as "Rotting In Vain," "Insane," "A Different World" featuring Corey Taylor and current single, the Active Rock radio smash "Take Me" which is currently charting at #25. "Rotting In Vain"continues to chart at Active Rock as well.
