KATE NASH's New Album 'Girl Talk' Released Today

Two weeks before her (almost sold out) North American tour commences, acclaimed British pop icon KATE NASH releases her third album 'Girl Talk' today. Already, she has received wide-spread praise from her fans and critical appraise from the media for the album's bold direction and attitude, and Kate's refusal to bow down to the current industry norms.

"I've learned not to care what anyone says about the way I look or sound. I need to be outspoken. We all have a responsibility to the next generation.' Kate explains as she recalls the place she had to be in order to make this album and the confidence it took to release 'Girl Talk' without looking over her shoulder at the critics and bloggers all the time.

Already an accomplished piano and guitar player, she took up bass, and flew to Los Angeles to meet Grammy award-winning producer Tom Biller (Evan Dando, Karen O and the Kids, Fiona Apple) to make the album in 2012. 'I can't tell you how good Tom made me feel in the studio. I've never felt that comfortable before.'

With powerful tracks such as 'Death Proof', 'FRI-END?', 'Under Estimate The Girl', and her latest single '3AM', it's clear Kate has overcome a thing or two over the years, in love, life and the music business.

'Girl Talk' is a bold, passionate and personal album. There's been a romantic break-up in her life (which she would rather not talk about) and some challenging times with girlfriends. If 'My Best Friend Is You' was about trust, honesty, and growing up, then 'Girl Talk' is about instinct, and an immediate reaction to the world around her.

Kate says that 'Girl Talk' is a call to arms, a mission statement about what it's like to be a woman. 'Working with an all-girl band has been incredibly liberating as well as being brilliant fun. I really believe in women being able to be whatever they want to be. We don't have to be one-dimensional. I can be sensitive. I can be angry. I can do a song that is screaming and then add a backing vocal that is really sweet. I've never been one thing and I refuse to allow people or the music industry to try and define me otherwise.'
