Female solo artist K.Flay is confirmed as direct support for the chart topping Swedish duo Icona Pop during their North American 'Iconic Tour' this summer. In conjunction with the dates, the Midwest born, west coast-based rapper, musician and producer will also be releasing her EP titled 'What If It Is', set to drop today, August 6th (RCA Records).
K.Flay, the moniker for San Francisco-based musician Kristine Flaherty, is championed for her honest dialogue about what it means to care (and not care) in the twenty-something era. Her clever lyrics, a direct reaction to a generational indifference and disillusioned youth. "The re-occurring theme on this EP draws very much upon being an outsider" explains Kristine who penned and produced the tracks herself. "Whether you're feeling disconnected from yourself (Rawks), from your loved-ones (So What, The Cops), or the world you're immersed in (Starfvcker, Hail Mary ft. Danny Brown), the sensation of being apart can be sad, sometimes absurd, but often inspiring. I definitely like exploring my own emotional unavailability." Influenced by a diverse array of artists, K.Flay's unique sound is an innovative combination of hip-hop, electronica and indie rock aesthetics, all bolstered by Flaherty's undeniable rapping ability.Videos
