Singer/Songwriter, Julia Michaels dropped her new EP Inner Monologue Part 1 on January 24, a day early from the scheduled January 25 release date.
This follows her last EP Nervous System which dropped in July 2017 with her hit single "Issues". The EP reached number 48 on Billboard's 200 Chart.
She has everyone talking from indie singer/songwriter Ingrid Michaelson to country musician Danielle Bradbery. Both musicians posted about how they loved the EP on their Instagram Stories.
Michaels known for being completely vulnerable in her lyrics bares her soul in the six song EP showcasing her unique voice.
She opens up with her battle with anxiety which let's be honest is something that so many struggle with today. She collaborated with Selena Gomez on the appropriately titled track and both of their voices blend wonderfully together. "I got all these thoughts, running through my mind/ all the damn time and I can't seem to shut it off/ I think I'm doing fine most of the time." This song gives an insight to those who are unfamiliar with what anxiety entails. These two are no strangers working together as Julia worked on some of Gomez's hits like "Hands to Myself" and "Good for You".
The songstress also shared her struggles with past relationships on the release and collaborated with good friend Niall Horan on the closing track "What a Time". This track delves into reminiscing about a relationship ending. They sing about remembering all the good memories with the exes. Can we get more songs with these two?
Julia is an absolutely fantastic songwriter and it truly shows on this EP. There is a reason she keeps getting asked to collaborate with some of the biggest artists out there. Her vocals truly shined and the production is so sleek. I believe Inner Monologue Part 1 is going to help so many people coping with similar issues. This makes her an admirable artist in today's industry. Be prepared to have this release on repeat for days.
You'll soon get to hear these songs come to life on stage as she's opening for P!nk's Beautiful Trauma tour and as well as headlining her own tour. You can find all the dates on juliamichaelsofficial.com.
