Singer/songwriter Josh Ritter and indie-folk duo The Milk Carton Kids have teamed up for an Amazon Original reimagined version of Ritter's song "Losing Battles." Originally released on Ritter's latest album Fever Breaks, "Losing Battles" is available now only on Amazon Music. The accompanying video was also released today which debuted on American Songwriter. The track is available to stream and purchase.
"Once a song is written and recorded, it can be difficult to reimagine it, but I knew that 'Losing Battles' was a song that could go in all kinds of directions," said Ritter. "Once the idea of working with Joey and Kenneth came into my mind, I only wanted to see where the collaboration could take us. It was really exciting, fun, and inspiring to be in the midst of such talent and vision. What a great time!"
"It's Josh Ritter man!" continued The Milk Carton Kids' Joey Ryan. "An American treasure! And he asked us to make his beautiful, sad song even sadder?! That's a task we're well-suited to. You might not know it to hear this thing, but we had a great time making it together."
Josh Ritter's acclaimed tenth album Fever Breaks released this past April via Thirty Tigers. Produced by Grammy Award-winning musician Jason Isbell and recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A, the album debuted at #4 on Billboard's Americana/Folk Albums Chart, #5 on Independent Albums Chart, #14 on Top Current Albums Chart, and placed on the Billboard 200. It received praises from NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Consequence of Sound, Paste, and the Associated Press who called it "a work of stacked marvels."
Amazon Music listeners can find Josh Ritter's and The Milk Carton Kids' reimagined version of "Losing Battles" on the "Brushland" playlist, the global stage for today's Americana fan. Customers can also simply ask, "Alexa play the Amazon Original by Josh Ritter" in the Amazon Music app for iOS and Android and on Alexa-enabled devices. In addition to the new track, Amazon Music listeners can access hundreds of Amazon Originals featuring both emerging and established artists across numerous genres, available to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.
