Jordan Klassen has been touring his 2013 album Repentance non-stop since its release 12 months ago, embarking on tours across North America, UK, Europe and Australia. As a seasoned songwriter, Jordan has created a unique blend of self-described "chamber folk-pop music." He was named CBC's Canadian act to watch of 2014, earning a wonderful description from them that truly expresses how "Klassen takes both his emotion and imaginative insight and melds together poetic lyrics and melody into songs that are warm, meaningful and intimate."
The poppy "Firing Squad", released today via Stereogum, illustrates a new direction in Klassen's writing. While it may not necessarily fully foreshadow a direction to expect in a new album to come sometime in 2015, it certainly expands the artist's colour palette, which makes this track an exciting new single for Jordan Klassen. This is a transitional song for Klassen, it will open up new doors as he continues to write and prepares to record his new album. Jordan continues to wow today with the premiere of a fun cover of HAIM's 2013 hit "Falling", also on Stereogum. His cover has the song taking on an alluring twist, with his masculine vocal replacing the Haim sisters' soft three-part harmonies. The arrangement sounds out of this world, having added various instruments common to Klassen's sound, as opposed to the trio's guitar, bass and drum set-up.http://jordanklassen.bandcamp.com/
