Landmark on Main Street will welcome back Jon Batiste and Stay Human on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 8 PM. Landmark thanks sponsors Beth & Dan Eule, Sandy & Eric Krasnoff and Frank Ullman for their support.
With his soulful voice, virtuosic piano chops and dapper sense of style, Jon Batiste has ignited the music scene. Although he comes from a renowned lineage of New Orleans musicians in his family, over the last decade he has forged his own artistic path by indelibly fusing himself within the fabric of New York City culture. At 26, Jon is the Artistic Director At Large of the National Jazz Museum in Harlem and has also received a Masters Degree from the Juilliard School for piano. Batiste brings to mind a young Ray Charles on 'Social Music' as he reinterprets America's richest musical traditions through a contemporary lens.
Interview Magazine described Batiste as "On a mission to give new meaning to the term 'Free Jazz'-Che Guevara-Style."
Thanks to support by the Port Washington Education Foundation, Jon Batiste & Stay Human will perform earlier in the week for students in the Port Washington Schools.
Tickets are Premium $37 (Friends $32); Standard $32 (Friends $27) and can be ordered through the box office phone number is 516-767-6444 or on-line www.landmarkonmainstreet.org.
