On the heels of releasing his debut album BALLADS 1, Osaka-born singer and producer Joji announces his first headlining North American tour starting on January 29th, 2019 with stops in major markets such as Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Seattle, and more. The tour announce follows closely with BALLADS 1's #3 debut on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart.
In addition to announcing tour, Joji has shared a brand new remix of "SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK" from multi-platinum Toronto production/DJ duo Loud Luxury--taking the song into serious pop territory. After meeting each other in University, Loud Luxury have been creating quite a stir in the dance music scene as of late. Their latest single "Body" ushered in a new era for the duo, it is now certified Gold in the US, has over 300 million Spotify streams, and recently won for song of the summer at the iHeartRadio MMVAs, as well as becoming one of top 20 streamed songs globally. Alongside "Body", Loud Luxury recently teamed with fellow Toronto native and singer Anders for their latest single "Love No More"-a pop-laden punch mixed in with deep house booms which debuted on Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart at No. 27. With this success, it is safe to say Loud Luxury has been cemented as one of the top upcoming artists to watch in dance music.
BALLADS 1 is a collection of ballads and songs dedicated to the theme of change. Each song deals with the struggle of change - leaving toxic environments, grappling with temptations, or refusing to change. The album is told from multiple perspectives, based on both people in Joji's life and imagined. BALLADS 1 also reflects Joji's evolution as an artist since the release of his debut EP In Tongues in November 2017. Through the recording process, Joji has unlocked an ambitious new sound and style that's uniquely his own. The album is predominantly self- produced, yet features notable collaborations with producers Shlohmo, Clams Casino, RL Grime, Patrick Wimberly, and Jam City. BALLADS 1 also sees Joji and Trippie Redd follow up on their "18" collaboration from earlier this year with a highly anticipated new song called "R.I.P."
