On Sunday December 16 at 7:30pm, the Midland Cultural Centre is proud to present a rising star of American songwriting Joe Crookston in their "Intimate Spaces" Concert Series. Named 2016 Folk Alliance International Artist-in-Residence and with his songs being made into films, Joe Crookston is becoming a staple in folk and roots music genres. Based in the city of Ithaca, New York state, he was recently signed to Tamulevich Artist Management in the company of longtime luminaries John Gorka and Peter Yarrow.
Crookston is a songwriter, guitarist, painter, fiddler, slide-guitar player, eco-village member and believer in all things possible. His songs are universal, his rhythm infectious and in concert, he is hysterically funny one moment and transcendent the next. He plumbs for lyrical gold like a social archeologist, surprising and awakening the cynics.
His special guest opening the concert is Jesse Parent, an up-and-coming Kitchener/Waterloo-based singer-songwriter possessing a warm, authentic voice and writing well-crafted, melodic songs with lyrics that help illuminate the human condition.
