One of NYC's best-loved kids' musicians, Joanie Leeds, is ready to rock the park with her band, The Nightlights, as they celebrate the release of their new album Brooklyn Baby! with an all-ages show at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 6 on the Oval Lawn at Madison Square Park, between Fifth and Madison Avenues at 25th St., NYC. This free show is part of the Madison Square Kids concert series.

As an ex-Manhattanite who's now a Brooklynite, Joanie Leeds brings her love for both boroughs to her concerts. This performance will be a high energy, interactive experience from start to finish, showcasing such fan favorites as "I Love NY," "Hipster in the Making," "Sunglasses," and of course, Joanie's crazy "Freeze Dance." Joanie Leeds & The Nightlights will also play an array of genre-hopping tunes from Brooklyn Baby!, including "Ferry Nice," "Library Book," "Shayne Punim," "By Myself," "Love is Love," and "Subway."

Joanie Leeds says, "I've never been one to stay stuck in any one particular musical style because I know kids love 'em all -- rock, pop, funk, soul, ska, go-go, gospel, country -- and frankly, so do I! Our band is super-excited to be playing the Madison Square Kids series again with our Manhattan album release show for Brooklyn Baby! It's gonna be an awesome party!"

Gifted with a soulful, "rock solid" voice that ranges from low and bluesy to high, light, and breezy, Joanie Leeds is an exceptionally versatile artist who brings serious musicianship to the table right alongside a terrific sense of fun and fashion. Says SiriusXM's Kids Place Live host Mindy Thomas, "Joanie Leeds is that cool babysitter who would let you try on her lip gloss once your mom left the house. You idolized her, and your mom knew she could trust her. That's Joanie. Only she's also likely to completely ROCK THE ROOF OFF YOUR HOUSE!"

Joanie Leeds' original kids' music has won first place in the USA Songwriting Competition, as well as winning an Independent Music Award, Parents' Choice Gold Award, NAPPA Gold Award, and Family Choice Award. Joanie was a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Competition. Her tunes are played on many radio stations nationwide and have climbed the chart to #1 on SiriusXM's Kids Place Live and WXPN's Kids Corner.

Six years ago, Joanie Leeds packed her bags and moved from Manhattan's Upper West Side to the artistic neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Since then, Joanie has started a family and embarked on new adventures in the energetic borough, which served as the inspiration for her eighth kids' album, Brooklyn Baby! Produced by Jesse Lauter (Tedeschi Trucks Band, Elvis Perkins, Carl Broemel from My Morning Jacket), Brooklyn Baby! runs the stylistic gamut from folk, Southern rock, and hip hop to pop and punk. Songs about the park system ("Ferry Nice"), public transportation ("Subway") and Brooklyn's most famous dish ("Pizza") are a given, but the heart of the album grasps the Brooklyn mentality with love ("Love is Love"), thirst for education ("Library Book"), healthy eating ("Apples in My Apples"), and Yiddish colloquialisms ("Shayne Punim"). The album closes with Joanie's version of Brooklyn-born Lou Reed's gentle tune, "Sunday Morning."

Prior to Brooklyn Baby!, Joanie Leeds released seven critically acclaimed, full-length albums and two full-length DVDs, in addition to numerous videos on her YouTube channel. She is currently at work on more music videos, while maintaining a busy teaching and performance schedule.
