Jimmy Edgar is widely known in the dance community for his infectious experimental sounds and recently more broadly for his work on Vince Staples most recent LP.
Today he delivers a record charged with robotic funk called "Burn So Deep (feat. DAWN) - out via Big Beat Records. The track arrives accompanied by an Official Video that fully immerses viewers into the distorted world of the song - WATCH HERE!
"Burn So Deep" is a departure from Jimmy's past releases, featuring full-length vocals over his trademark synth laden production. New Orleans songstress, DAWN, adds flare to the track through her pulsating vocals.
The Official Video, directed by British director Robert Fox, is an extension of Jimmy's creative prowess. Jimmy's early exposure to music, technology, spirituality, and seduction informed his creative impulses profoundly, and their confluence has become a recurrent motif in his work, enhancing his already distinct sonic. Visually, Jimmy has established himself as an in-demand director, photographer, and multimedia artist with an impressive roster of videos, exhibits, and magazine work to his credit.
Jimmy is constantly touring worldwide to bring his experimental sounds to the club & festival circuit, where he feels they resonate best, having performed at the likes of Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Electric Forest, I Love Techno, Brooklyn's iconic Output, Star Festival in Japan, and many more. He has also lent production to notable side projects including Black Affair with Beta Band vocalist Steve Mason and the duo JETS with Machinedrum.
" 'Burn So Deep' was a very interesting process during the whole development, now that I look back everything fell into place perfectly. I was asking around if anyone knew any good vocalists. One friend texted me Ginuwine's phone number lol. He never got back to me.
The other was Dawn Richard. She was incredible in the studio - just nailed everything. In fact, she was so good it took me forever to make the song stand up to her simple, but impactful, vocal. We instantly connected and made lots of music.Jimmy Edgar Upcoming Show Dates:
