Olympia Entertainment has announced that the award-winning singer, songwriter and author Jimmy Buffett will take anchor just one mile off the Detroit River this summer for his debut performance at Comerica Park on Saturday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. The Detroit Tigers ballpark will host the largest single-night Buffett concert in Michigan history!
Jimmy Buffett fans are invited to soak in the full Margaritaville tailgating experience, starting Saturday at 8 a.m., with a FREE downtown beach party for all to enjoy. “Buffett’s Beach Party”, located on the grounds surrounding Comerica Park, will feature a LandShark Lounge, margarita tasting, hula hooping, a variety of midway games, live entertainment and much, much more.
“In our commitment to providing quality entertainment, we’re elated to host Jimmy Buffett in what’s sure to be the must-see summer concert of the year,” said Tom Wilson, president and chief executive officer of Olympia Entertainment. “From the free ‘Beach Party’ to the time Buffett takes the stage, there’s something for everyone in what promises to be an unforgettable event. “
This concert marks Buffett’s first ever show in Detroit’s city limits. Buffett’s iconic performances are notably regarded as not just a concert, but a state of mind that allows Parrotheads to experience the sights, sounds and taste of their favorite island destination without leaving town.
Buffett will have a new live CD/DVD this summer, which was recorded in Las Vegas last October. It will be released on Buffett’s own Mailboat Records. The first digital album release, Volcano – Live 2011, is now available for download through iTunes, and contains new live versions of the songs from the classic album. Additionally, the game, Margaritaville, is now available online – it’s a virtual island world filled with music, adventure and the Margaritaville lifestyle.
