Jim James, Dhani Harrison, Talib Kweli, Lucinda Williams Added To 'Pathway to Paris' Event In LA Image

Jim James, Dhani Harrison and Talib Kweli are newly announced to join Karen O, Tony Hawk, Patti Smith, Flea, Bill McKibben and others in a celebration of climate action after the Global Climate Action Summit organized by Pathway to Paris. The special concert will be taking place on September 16th at The Theatre at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. Helping to cap off the Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco, the concert will focus on the potential for cities to push for, achieve, and go beyond the climate targets highlighted in the Paris Agreement. Bringing together leading musicians, artists, thinkers, and policymakers, this concert will serve as a call to action, urging the international community to ramp up ambition towards a climate safe future for all.

The first Pathway to Paris concerts took place in Paris in 2015, and coincided with the adoption of the Paris Agreement. Most recently, 2017 saw a concert at New York City's historic Carnegie Hall where Pathway to Paris announced the launch of the '1000 Cities' initiative. The initiative invites all cities of the world to transition off fossil fuels and move to 100% renewable energy by 2040in order to turn the Paris Agreement into reality.

"Music, art and film create a platform for change to take place ... Climate change is a global concern that unites us all in a great crisis of massive urgency. There is no question that the picture of a future without its reversal, and the destructive symptoms of its exacerbation, elicit great emotions across the world, emotions that can be expressed through music and art. Music is not only a source of healing and comfort, but it is our universal language. United by sound, our hearts are opened, our spirits ignited and when we are called to action in this kind of space, we make a public and trusted promise to each other to do our part."

- Co-Founder of Pathway to Paris, Jesse Paris Smith

"One of the objectives of the upcoming event is to inspire Los Angeles residents and officials to become a leader and model for clean cities. We believe the solution to transitioning from fossil fuels and into a renewables and sustainable future lies within transforming our cities and communities."

- Co-Founder of Pathway to Paris, Rebecca Foon

"Is it a crisis? Is it a curse? The snow is not the same as I remember and the hills are burning. What I do know is it's certainly our own fault ... With Trump pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Accord, it is now or never for us to urgently to act as Global citizens and make every effort to preserve mother earth for our children's children. Let us join voices and hope we can be heard." - Eric Burdon

"These have been more than great concerts - they've been key sites for organizing resistance to climate change, and for powering that resistance forward!" - Bill McKibben, 350

"Artists are blessed with the ability to inspire and incite, but in the end it is the people who facilitate change. Pathway to Paris brings these forces together, art and activism. Their events bring to the forefront our civic duties and the joy and possibilities of unity." - Patti Smith

Along with Patti Smith, the concert will also feature Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs), legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Dhani Harrison, Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Talib Kweli, Tibetan musician Tenzin Choegyal, Eric Burdon (The Animals), French pop-soul singer Imany, and Pathway to Paris Founders Jesse Paris Smith and Rebecca Foon. Speakers include 350.org's Bill McKibben and others to be announced. Multi media artist Steven Sebring will also be presenting a visual art and immersive sound experience.

All proceeds from this evening will be donated to Pathway to Paris.
