The singer-songwriter of '90s hits such as "Supermodel" and "I Kissed a Girl" will perform a one
night only concert at Asolo Repertory Theatre on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 8:00 p.m.

The concert will feature Sobule's original music as well as songs from Asolo Rep's production of Yentl, which opens January 20, 2012.

About the artist: "With her pop/rock/folk style and eight albums and two hit singles to her credit, Sobule's music has tackled such topics as climate change, shoplifting, reproduction, the French resistance movement, adolescence and one of her favorites, love – love found, love lost, love wished for and love taken away. To see Jill live and in concert is a rare treat. On stage she is a powerful and gifted storyteller. She entertains, amuses, provokes, and, more often than not,
takes her audiences on an emotional roller coaster, from comedy to pathos in a few bars of music."

Jill Sobule is currently working on her next record, and the musical, Times Square. Tickets are available by calling the Asolo Rep Box Office at 941.351.8000 or online at www.asolorep.org.

"I haven't played in Florida in ages. When I tour I never know what to expect, I have a really interesting fan base that spans ages and groups. It's always different. Audiences should definitely expect some Yentl music and when I play, it's pretty loose. I have no set list; I kind of just feel it out," said Sobule. "But what I've enjoyed about working here at Asolo Rep is that it feels like a family. There are really talented artists and it's a beautiful theatre. ..plus Michael Edwards has a great accent."

Sobule has been working over the past year to compose music for Yentl and has worked extensively with the FSU/Asolo Conservatory students that are performing in the Yentl band. From the banjo to the upright bass, Sobule's music has brought a klezmer/folk rock score to Asolo Rep's production that runs until April 26.

The Jill Sobule one night only concert will be held on February 13, 2012 at 8 p.m.

Tickets range from $15-$50. There will be a reception with the artist on the mezzanine following the performance. Reception tickets may be purchased for $10.00 through the box office.

Patrons purchasing concert tickets at the $50 level will receive a pass to the reception at no additional charge.

Tickets can be purchased by calling the Asolo Rep Box Office at 941.351.8000 or
online at www.asolorep.org
