Multiple-GRAMMY® Award-winning singer/songwriter Jason Mraz has announced plans for a very special birthday show at the famed Hollywood Bowl, marking Mraz's third headline show at the venue following two sold-out appearances there. "Jason Mraz & His Superband - The Birthday Party And Concert At The Hollywood Bowl," will take place on Mraz's birthday, June 23rd.
In a message to fans, Mraz wrote:
When I was 21, I dropped out of college to pursue music.
I accepted my fate that I would likely become a starving artist. But I didn't plan on starving. I was too hungry and too naive to think I would fail. Music is a romance, and the pursuit of it would be half the fun.
To let myself off the hook and be unfazed by any chance of failure, I told myself I would go for it until I was 40. I gave myself permission to be a beginner until then. And that If I hadn't "made it" by 40, at least I'll have gifted myself the time. And at least by then, with all that experience, I'd probably be able to rock. Those were my words. I'd probably be able to rock.
Now nearly 40, my heart is filled with gratitude - to my younger Self for dreaming an unreasonable dream; to all the kindred spirits who married their beautiful music to mine; to those who gave me a round of applause or a couch for music and I to sleep on.
Together we made it happen. I'm turning 40. And I'm ready to rock.
See you at the show.
