Little Mixtape/Atlantic international recording artist Janine and The Mixtape has announced plans for her biggest US tour to date. The New Zealand-born singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist/producer will join Floetry on their eagerly anticipated return to the stage. The dates get underway tomorrow, at Columbus, OH's LC Pavilion and then continue through July (see below itinerary).
The trek follows the recent release of Janine's acclaimed new XXEP, available now at all DSPs. XXEP includes half a dozen new tracks, including "When I'm Broken" and a scintillating cover of DMX's "Lose My Mind," both of which initially premiered as part of Janine's ongoing "Little Mixtape Mondays" campaign. Music is streaming now at Janine's official SoundCloud (soundcloud.com/janineandthemixtape), with arresting companion visuals viewable at her official YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/user/JanineandtheMixtapeX.
XXEP has fast received rave reviews from a range of high profile outlets, including Pigeons & Planes, which hailed the EP for "sensual production" and "lustful vocals that seemingly spoon-feed the listener (Janine's) emotive messages." "Brand new and quite pretty," noted The Fader, while Hypetrak declared the set to be "one impressive return to form." What's more, XXEP has proven a commercial blockbuster in Janine's native New Zealand, debuting at #5 on the Official NZ Music Charts where it remains a top 10 favorite.
"Hold Me" recently had its official video premiere via Complex (www.complex.com/music/2015/04/janine-and-the-mixtape-hold-me-video-premiere) earning rave reviews from around the online world. "Utilizing NYC's chilling wintery landscape to compliment her lyrics," applauded The Source, "(Janine) paints the perfect picture of the love she yearns for." "Quickly rising as one of our current favorites," declared 2DopeBoyz, while Mostly Junk Food praised "Hold Me" as an "ever-enduring jam" and the video as "another stunning, bone-chilling affair that's fated to tuck you into bed in the lonely hour." "Hold Me" can be viewed now at www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKDbZEt2Af0.
XXEP follows last year's acclaimed "DARK MIND" EP and its breakthrough remix, "Hold Me (Feat. Pusha T)." The original version of "Hold Me" has drawn more than 3 million plays on SoundCloud while also earning featured play on VH1's smash reality series, Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
Now based in Brooklyn, Janine and The Mixtape known to friends and family as Janine Foster began performing at open mic nights in her native Auckland when she was but 14 years old. She soon developed her own unique amalgam of pop, indie, R&B, and hip hop, all built around her emotional songcraft, otherworldly vocals, and utterly individualistic persona. Released initially by her own Little Mixtapes Records in 2013, "DARK MIND" immediately shot Janine and The Mixtape into the spotlight as well as the top 2 on the iTunes Store's "Top R&B Albums" chart. The EP which also includes the hit single/video, "Little Bit" (featured on VH1's Love & Hip Hop Hollywood) received worldwide applause, with high praise coming from such outlets as MTV, Billboard, VIBE Vixen, Complex, and VIBE, which ranked Janine and The Mixtape among their "R&B Secret Society: 26 Acts You Should Be Listening To."
A gifted visual artist and electrifying live performer, Janine has lit up the stage at countless shows across the Southern Hemisphere, including high profile festival performances in New Zealand. Here in the United States, Janine and The Mixtape made waves with a sold-out crowd at New York's world famous S.O.B's as well as a number of other North American live dates.
