In anticipation of their upcoming U.S. tour, Australia's Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders reveal their Dire Straits cover of "So Far Away" today with Stereogum. Highlighted by radiating guitar textures and a '70s flecked twang, Ladder's one of a kind baritone offers a smooth and soulful interpretation of the 1985 classic.
Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders made their U.S. debut with the critically acclaimed album Playmates earlier this year via Fat Possum. Featuring the guest vocals of Sharon Van Etten, synthesizers and industrial stomp rub shoulders with glam guitars, marimba and pedal steel twang, while Ladder slashes at love and darkness like a heavy blade.
"So Far Away" (Dire Straits cover) premiered with Stereogum today.
The band is wrapping up an Australian tour as lead support for Florence & The Machine and will make their way to the U.S. for a string of headlining dates that kick off December 1st in NYC. Their live show is revered by fans and critics alike - be sure to catch Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders in a city near you!
