North Carolina rapper J.K. The Reaper has delivered the video for his latest single 'Body Bag', a release taken from his latest album, 'Surrounded by Idiots'.
With the production serving as a 'fictionalised reenactment of the events that followed the album's release', the J.K. The Reaper co-directed video sees Police interrogating potential suspects and witnesses as a corpse is found in woodland areas. Echoing shades of 90's horror movie 'Blair Witch Project' through handheld video-cam footage, the video for 'Body Bag' sees a range of menacing characters dressed in farmyard animal face masks to conceal their identities.
Provoking lyricism with 808 engulfed hi-hats and synth melodies that typically induce simplicity, much like his contemporaries Denzel Curry, and Joey BadA$$ - with whom he toured alongside in 2015 ('World Domination Tour'), J.K. The Reaper cites the likes of Outkast and Nas as inspirations for his witty lyrical style.
Famed for his huge hit 'Gankin,' J.K's unmistakable signature sound has seen the American talent rise meteorically in recent years, with Bandcamp recently naming him amongst the top five notable artists from his North Carolina hometown.
Dropping his eagerly anticipated 'Surrounded By Idiots' project in November 2018 alongside a range of the industry's biggest names - including Childish Major, Idle Kid, and Supah Mario - 'Body Bag' (prod. by Supah Mario) serves a slick embodiment of J.K's ability to leave no subject matter unturned, no matter how dark, or controversial.
J.K. The Reaper will be performing across SXSW next week. Please inquire for show attendance.
The sinister video for 'Body Bag' is set for release on Tuesday, March 5th.
