It's official. Global superstar Ed Sheeran has the biggest album of 2017, with sales equivalents of his blockbuster release "÷" (pronounced "divide") exceeding 2,764,000 units. Sheeran dominated Billboard's recently released Year In Review, standing at #1 on 16 of their year-end charts including Top Artist of the Year and Hot 100 Song of the Year for "Shape Of You."
Furthermore, "÷" is one of only two titles released in 2017 to surpass the 1 million mark in pure album sales, and the only album of the year to have TWO singles go to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This week, "÷" is back up to #2 on the Billboard 200 while the album's latest single "Perfect" stands at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the fourth consecutive week, further illustrating Sheeran's continuing dominance of the charts.
"÷" debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with the biggest first week sales at the time of its March 2017 release, and remained in the chart's top 10 for a staggering 39 weeks (including 20 consecutive weeks). "Shape Of You" - the album's 7x-Platinum lead single - debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 in January 2017, held the top spot for a remarkable 12 weeks, and remained in the top 10 for 33 consecutive weeks, the most ever in the chart's 59-year history.
Sheeran will return for his first-ever North American stadium tour next summer, beginning on August 18th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA, and continue into November. For a complete list of dates, ticketing information, and more, visithttp://www.edsheeran.com/NATour2018.
