After three years of escalating grass-roots success, including a series of very popular music videos, Common Kings have signed a management deal with the Melvin Brown Media Group helmed by Melvin Brown and Ed Swinburne. MBMG partners with Mr. Reed Entertainment Group. "These young men have it all," said Mr. Brown. "They're clean-cut, self-contained and tremendously soulful." Mr. Brown is best known for launching the career of the multi-platinum international superstar Akon in 2004.
Brown speaks on the signing, "After the success I had guiding Akon to superstardom, I've always taken my time when it comes to signing a new act for management, it's only worth doing if it feel's like something very special and something I feel truly passionate about, but from the moment I heard the first note of the acoustic version of "Alcoholic," I knew this was the group I could make history with again and build a career that is based on incredible music and longevity." Already having more than 3 Million hits on YouTube via the group's Pacific Island base, "Alcoholic" is now being serviced to the mainstream and is available on iTunes. Purchase here:

Common Kings, a band of four young men whose roots hail from the South Pacific, came together in Orange County, California in 2011. Since they have racked up nearly 10 million YouTube views for "Alcoholic," "Wade in Your Water," "No Other Love," and "Fly" combined. To date Common Kings have sold in excess of 150,000 records across three singles independently released.

Live shows have also been a huge route to their success, having sold out shows all across the US, especially on the west coast, the Pacific, and also in New Zealand, Japan, and Australia. During their travels they recently filmed a documentary giving the fans a sneak peak into the tour life of Common kings, the documentary was filmed in New Zealand, Australia, Guam, Samoa & Hawaii, click to view here the doc here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiA_RpTCaQU.

The group is comprised of Lui Ivan Kirimaua (aka Uncle Lui), Jerome Taito (aka Rome), Taumata Grey (aka Mata), and Sasualei Maliga (aka Junyer), the group's lead singer.

Band Co-Manager Tautua Reed speaks on the early success. "We always felt that we needed to cater to Hawaii and our island markets first to build a foundation of listeners where the music rings true to our hearts. It was a successful plan because our fans have been amazingly faithful. We grew from opening shows to selling out headlining shows with hundreds of thousands of records sold."

In anticipation of their forthcoming debut EP in September, Common Kings are releasing their Summer Anthem mixtape in the coming weeks. The mixtape is made especially for Common Kings' existing fan base and stays true to their roots but offers as a segue to the group's developing sound.

While the Summer Anthem mixtape will stay true to the group's R&B and Reggae roots, the sound Common Kings has made over the years, the EP in September will offer fans a transition that bridges the old with the new. It's "the old sound with a mash up of Bruno Mars meets Maroon 5 meets, Sublime," states Mata.

In addition to putting new music out, the band also boasts a healthy touring schedule, starting with the EP launch party & headline show at House of Blues on Sunset in LA onSeptember 16th (purchase tickets at hob.com or commonkings.com) followed by national U.S tourand a lengthy visit in the Fall to Australia, New Zealand, and Tahiti (dates will be announced on August 5th).
