Known for her pristine and richly expressive soprano as well as her visionary artistry, Sasha Lazard is pleased to announce the release of her fifth album, Lumiere. To those who know her, she is a staple in the art world equally as comfortable in a couture gown as she is on the playgrounds of lower Manhattan watching over her children. Widen the lens, however, and she is considered one of the most elegant and beautifully trained artists of our time. Enhancing her musicality are her mesmerizing performances, breath-taking sense of style and her associations with the finest luxury brands, lending Sasha a public figure-aura of glamorous mystique.
Many find it difficult to describe Sasha without speaking first of her live performance. 'Transcendent' tends to best describe the experience, which has left her in high demand. Sasha has performed in 15 countries around the world, from the beaches of Cannes, France to Catherine the Great's palace in St. Petersburg, Russia to Queen Latifah's birthday party on New York's Lower East Side and a Standard Hotel residency on its west side. Additionally, many of the most regarded names in fashion and luxury have hosted her as a special musical guest. These names include Narciso Rodriguez, Carolina Herrera, Bulgari, Salvatore Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton and Maserati.
Lumiere is as full of grace as Sasha herself; it is an album of simple elegance and emotional candour. Something of a trademark, Sasha effortlessly weaves genres and influences together for a soothing and ethereal listening experience comprised of many of her own compositions. This combination of calming pop sensibility, melodic operatic touch and deep eclecticism have put her on the most progressive edge of what might be considered mainstream classical crossover, though it would be a mistake to relegate Sasha to any one genre or movement.
"I called this album 'Lumiere' because it's about stepping out of the shadows as an artist and as a woman into the world," she says. "I had a tendency to see things in black and white, but my life journey that led me to this record has revealed to me that the interesting and beautiful parts of life lie in the many colors in between, and these colors are what I wanted to explore with this record."
