Inon Zur, a three-time BAFTA nominated composer, today announced the release of "Meneleya," the first music video from his upcoming album Songs from the Tavern. The video, which is available now on select platforms worldwide, was directed by award winning writer-director Laddie Ervin who has collaborated with Zur previously on film and video game projects.
"I wanted the piece to have a look that would resonate with gamers while keeping true to the fantasy style of the song," said Zur who is best known for his work on video games like the
Fallout and Dragon Age series. "What Ervin created is a captivating and visually stunning video that I believe perfectly complements the song."
The video depicts the story of star-crossed lovers, a prince and princess, who are separated because their kingdoms are at war.
Tragedy strikes after they each ascend to the throne and then meet again on the field of battle. The narrative of love and loss plays out in silhouettes that appear in light from stained glass windows.
"The music is beautiful and evocative with its evolving layers of instrumentation and 'Elvish' lyrics," said Ervin. "We endeavored to craft visuals that reflect that beauty through light and shadows, color and movement."
The song was written by Zur in collaboration with Juno Award winning composer-producer Ian Nickus and singer-songwriter
Mimi Page who also provides the track's ethereal vocals and is featured in the video. It is the first single from Zur's upcoming studio album, Songs from the Tavern which is scheduled to be released later this summer.
"Meneleya" is available for viewing today at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7XPaPmXQyc and can be purchased from iTunes and Amazon.
