The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts welcomes chart-topping folk-rock duo, the Indigo Girls, to Verizon Hall on Sunday, April 12 at 7:30p.m. With a legacy of hit releases and thousands of touring miles behind them, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have forged their own musical path. Selling more than 14 million records, the Indigo Girls are the only duo with top 40 titles on the Billboard 200 chart in each of the past four decades. This special evening in Verizon Hall also features the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra making their debut with the Grammy-winning duo on stage.

As part of the Kimmel Center's continuing commitment to partner world-class artists with local performing arts organizations, the Indigo Girls will offer a truly unique presentation of their best-loved songs with the support of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO). "I have pondered how cool it would be to have a set of musical scores to bring to orchestras around the country and play in a completely different setting," says Ray.

Recently the Indigo Girls have performed with several orchestras, including the Pittsburgh and Columbus Symphonies, but this is the first time they will be joined on-stage by a youth orchestra. "We are honored to be invited to perform with this legendary performing group. It's a wonderful complement to our orchestra, especially this year as we celebrate the orchestra's 75th Anniversary. This is truly, the icing on the proverbial cake," said Maestro Louis Scaglione, President and Music Director of PYO.

After signing to Epic Records in 1988, the Indigo Girls released their critically acclaimed eponymous album to thunderous praise; it remained on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart for 35 weeks, earned double platinum status, received a Grammy nomination for "Best New Artist" and won "Best Contemporary Folk Recording." They were overnight folk icons who continued to live up to the high standards they'd set for themselves: they've since released 14 albums, received six Grammy nominations and have won one. Indigo Girls have toured with innumerable star acts including Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Joan Baez, R.E.M., Sarah MacLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Jewel, and Mary Chapin Carpenter.

The duo has balanced their long, successful musical career by supporting numerous social causes - the Indigo Girls don't just talk the talk; they walk the walk. Having established an intensely dedicated fan base, the duo continues to remain relevant and attract new fans.

Tickets are available from $46-$70. Tickets can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at kimmelcenter.org, at the Kimmel Center box office at Broad & Spruce Streets (open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
