Notable for their penchant for African polyrhythms and rising profile across the west coast, the group teamed up with White Iris' likeminded Lewis Pesacov(Best Coast, Fool's Gold, Foreign Born) as well as Clinton Welander (Jimmy Cliff) to produce the new release. Tuolumne/Whidbey follows on the heels of Incan Abraham's 2012 Springhouse EP, about which Pitchfork raved "[you] get the feeling from Springhouse that they've...learned the right lessons about rhythmic elasticity, textural curiosity and instrumental democracy."
White Iris Records is the label arm of Black Iris Music, an LA-based creative incubator. Together, White Iris and Black Iris form an award-winning creative music production company, a critically acclaimed record label and a trusted consultancy platform for brands. Based in Echo Park and an integral part of Los Angeles' east side music scene since 2009, White Iris has been the launching pad for numerous highly acclaimed indie artists including Best Coast, FIDLAR, Oberhofer, Fool's Gold, Electric Guest and others. Vice/Noisey recently called White Iris "tastemakers" and LA Weekly named them one of the Top Ten Independent Record Labels in Los Angeles.
