The INFAMOUS STRINGDUSTERS have hit the ground running in 2016. Fresh off of the boat after "Jam Cruise 14," the band's new album LADIES & GENTLEMEN (out February 5, Compass Records) has been cited by Rolling Stone as one of the "35 Most Anticipated Country Albums of 2016."
The 12-song collection of new INFAMOUS STRINDUSTERS songs features a who's-who of singers including JOSS STONE, MARY CHAPIN CARPENTER, LEE ANN WOMACK, JOAN OSBORNE and more (full track listing below). Rolling Stone said, "But this is no novelty concept album. Instead, it's the sound of a band expanding its reach with some of the best voices in the business." Check out the article
here. The magazine had previously debuted one of the tracks, "I Believe" featuring Ms. Womack, which you can hear
here. They described it as "a delicately solemn ballad in the key of country that's like an Appalachian version of the Youngbloods' 'Get Together.' Preaching unity over divisiveness and focusing on celebrating differences rather than letting them polarize, the track was written as a reaction to a news climate that often brings stories of hate rather than hope - more common than ever in our current election cycle."
In other exciting news, Relix magazine recently treated its readers to another exclusive song, "See How Far You've Come" featuring Sara Watkins. Check out the new song
here. Meanwhile, BluegrassToday.com debuted "Ladders In The Sky" featuring Claire Lynch, which you can find
here. And today (1/27) American Songwriter shared "Won't Be Long" with
Sarah Jarosz here
Equal parts old school cats and modern operators, the Stringdusters' latest album,Ladies & Gentlemen highlights the group's instrumental and compositional prowess. The new set opens up fresh spaces including the drum-boosted contemporary country bounce of "Listen" with airwave vet Joan Osborne, the classic
Dolly Parton feel "See How Far" with
Sara Watkins (Nickel Creek, Watkins Family Hour), the slow jam slink of "Have A Little Faith" with nu-soul belter Joss Stone, and the contemporary folk breeze of "I Believe" with Lee Ann Womack. Elsewhere Mary Chapin Carpenter,Jennifer Hartswick, Aofie O'Donovan (Crooked Still, Sometymes Why, The Goat Rodeo Sessions), Celia Woodsmith (Della Mae), Sarah Jarosz, Nicki Bluhm, Claire Lynch and
Abigail Washburn weave their voices into one of the group's strongest song cycles to date.
