Long time Hollywood Casting Director, Wendy Kurtzman, is stepping out from behind the camera to pursue what she loves most: singing. This spring, Kurtzman will release a debut CD, "Just for a Thrill". Ms. Kurtzman will celebrate with a pre-release performance at The Metropolitan Room on April 25th at 9:30pm (34 West 22nd Street/$20 cover and two drink minimum. Call 212.206.0440). Musical Director, Rick Jensen, will lead a trio of New York Players.

"Just for a Thrill" will be released independently to all major online retailers this spring. Recorded in New York City, "Just for a Thrill" is a collaboration with many notable musicians including Jensen, Christopher Marlowe, Peter Calo, Jack Bashkow, Dan Gross and Tom Hubbard. The disc features classic and contemporary tunes from favorites like Cy Coleman, Billy Joel and Joni Mitchell among others. Wendy's recording of Cy Coleman's "Come Summer" is currently being featured on Delta Airlines.

The L.A. basEd Kurtzman spent the past 25 years in a very successful career as a film and television Casting Director. Eventually she founded her own company, Wendy Kurtzman Casting, and collaborated with many talented directors such as Paul Schrader, Antoine Fuqua, Marshall Herskovitz and Roland Emmerich among others. Her intuitive choices helped launch the burgeoning careers of many notable screen and television actors.

Ms. Kurtzman began her career in show business by working as an actress, performing at San Diego's Starlight Opera and after college in Equity productions, film and television. A decision to try an internship in a casting office ultimately led her to the other side of the acting business. When her love of music proved irresistible in 2008, she crafted and performed her one-woman show – "Something Cool" – at the Knitting Factory in Los Angeles. In 2009 she performed a follow-up to that show, "Who is this Wendy Sheridan? (and what does she want with me?), at the M Bar/ Hollywood. Shows in San Diego, Santa Fe and New York followed, as well as performances for charity and private events.

The Metropolitan Room offers a "lite bite" menu and a full range of cocktails, wince beer, soft drinks, etc.
