Hippo Campus Share 'Buttercup' Animated Video, Announce Planned Parenthood Partnership

Hippo Campus' trajectory continues to steadily ascend, playing to over-capacity crowds of enraptured fans at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza last summer, and headlining the Minnesota State Fair in their hometown. Having sold out their winter/spring landmark release tour last year, the band is hitting the road again for a slew of upcoming US dates, including advance sell out shows at LA's Fonda Theatre, Chicago's Vic Theater, Seattle's Neptune Theatre and NYC's Brooklyn Steel. To celebrate the first day of tour, the band has released a brand new mesmerizingly kaleidoscopic animated video for landmark album cut, "Buttercup," directed by Noah Farrar.

Hippo Campus has additionally announced a partnership with Planned Parenthood on the tour, which will see staff members and volunteers at select dates answering questions, handing out Planned Parenthood merch, and more. Of the partnership, Hippo Campus' Jake Luppen explains, "Hippo Campus stands with Planned Parenthood's belief that it's a fundamental right of every person to manage their own fertility regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, income, marital status, or race. We've seen first hand the support they've given to the young women in our lives. In such dark and confusing times, we believe Planned Parenthood is making a positive change in the world and we stand with them."

"Buttercup" was directed by fellow MN native Noah Farrar, with animation help from Aaron Yankowiak - the other half of their creative team, dolorundu. Of the video Farrar explains,

"We wanted it to sort of parallel the carefree, ambitious, and rebellious feeling (Buttercup) gives off. A lot of the colors and elements throughout the video are depictions from the album cover and symbols within it, which was something that we all definitely wanted to play off of."

The band surprise dropped their warm glow EP last fall via Grand Jury Music., which featured fan favorite "baseball." The band's critically acclaimed debut album landmark debuted at #2 Heatseekers Chart with accolades from both Bob Boilen + Robin Hilton of NPR Music, Noisey, NYLON, PAPER, The Creator's Project, Paste, and was BBC Radio 1's Greg James' Tune of the Week. Hippo Campus has eclipsed 100 million worldwide streams,landmark accounting for 60 million of them. They gave a great performance of album single "way it goes" on CONAN, have radio sessions with WFUV andWXPN World Cafe and called one of NPR Music's Favorite New Artists Of 2017.
