For more than two decades, a group of Western musicians and poets have celebrated the region's considerable western heritage at the annual Heber Valley Western Music and Cowboy Poetry Gathering, and this year they are kicking off their 2015 festival at SCERA with Heber Valley's Cowboy Roundup, Oct. 24 @ 7:00pm and 9:00pm.

Tickets for the 7:00pm performance are already sold out, but a second show was added at 9:00pm to meet demand. Reserved-seat tickets are $12 for adults, and $10 for children (age 3-11) and seniors (age 65+). Tickets are available at www.scera.org, by calling 801-225-ARTS, or in person at SCERA Center for the Arts, 745 South State, Orem, open 10am-6pm weekdays and Saturdays from 12Noon-6pm.

Audiences can expect live authentic western music, cowboy poetry, and gunslinging , whip and lasso tricks from authentic cowboys and cowgirls.

Multiple styles of music will include rock, western, country, blues and jazz with The Rockin' J's. This family band blends harmonies that require every family member's voice to create its unusual sound. Adding to the fun is the family's use of audience involvement.

Jeff Carson, a cowboy poet for the past 15 years, will share his love of western lore. Carson trains horses and mules and loves to ride and pack into the mountains surrounding Heber. He also has become known for his uncanny ability put the cowboy way of life into humorous verse.

"The music and poetry gathering has become an important event in Heber and attracts a wide audience not only in Utah but also across the country," says Adam J. Robertson, SCERA's President and CEO. "We might not always think about our cowboy background, but I believe it is valuable to preserve the cowboy way of life. It's a huge part of our past."
