Following a pair of wildly successful Flenser showcases last weekend, New England experimentalists Have A Nice Life have announced a forthcoming string of tour dates that will sweep North America this summer. Dubbed the "Sea Of Worry" Tour, the duo will be joined by CONSUMER (avant-doom project featuring members of HANL) and one-man post-metal virtuoso Planning For Burial. Tickets for all tour dates will go on sale this Wednesday, March 20, at 10 AM EST. A full tour itinerary can be found below.
Have A Nice Life formed in the early aughts when its two primary members, Dan Barrett and Tim Macuga, were studying at the University of Massachusetts. With the aim of crafting "oddly aggressive acoustic songs," the duo spent five years constructing their debut LP Deathconsciousness, a 2008 release that rippled across the post-punk landscape. Now hailed for its anguished subject matter and unwaveringly lo-fi production, Deathconsciousness is considered an experimental cornerstone.
Two years later, Have A Nice Life released the Time Of Land EP at their three live shows in 2010. Inquiring fans spotted a scavenger hunt link in the EP's liner notes, leading one intrepid soul to uncovering an additional "hidden track" buried deep in the woods of western Massachusetts a few months later. The world would have to wait until 2014, though, before another full HANL offering-a gift well worth every bated breath. The 2014 release of The Unnatural World further cemented HANL's enigmatic legacy as one of the post-punk's indisputable heavyweights. The eight-song masterpiece was Have A Nice Life's most monumental work yet; a tidal wave of industrial shoegaze.
Deathconsciousness and The Unnatural World are available now via The Flenser. Stay tuned for more exciting news coming soon.
