The 2013 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards show honoring the songwriters, producers and publishers of the most-performed songs of the past year comes to Manhattan Center's Hammerstein Ballroom, located at 311 West 34th Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, on Thursday, August 22.

The prestigious ceremony returns to New York this year, and appropriately so, since the city is the birthplace of hip-hop. It was on the streets of the South Bronx that this now worldwide cultural phenomenon and groundbreaking style of music was born.

This year's awards show will honor Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Birdman" Williams co-founders of the influential music company Cash Money as BMI Icons. The BMI Icon designation is bestowed upon artists who have had a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers. As the 2013 honorees, the Williams brothers join a legendary list that includes Mariah Carey, the Jacksons, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton, James Brown, Isaac Hayes, Little Richard and Al Green, among others.
