Calgary-born, now Montreal-based HERO is an indie-electronic tour de force who just released his disco-tinged new Dirty Work EP today on Fool's Gold Records. Fully written, produced and sung by HERO, it is a cinematic work that follows a storyline of an emotionally self-destructive character slowly building to the realization of perpetual pain.
His EP singles "Stay The Night" and "Dirty Work" were praised by MTV Latin America, Complex, booooooom tv, Ghettoblaster Magazine, Acid Stag and more, while BBC Radio 1 featured HERO's debut DJ mix as part of a Fool's Gold New Year's Day takeover. HERO's self-released "The Juice" was also featured in an episode of HBO's Insecure, where it was so well received that they wrote him into the script -- calling him "the black Daft Punk."
Dirty Work might be Fool's Gold Records' most cinematic release to date, and the sound of an auspicious new artist merging his influences into one singular vision. HERO's new collection features six self-produced tracks exploring the underbelly of romance over a darkly catchy, electronic pulse.
