Manila, Philippines--Physical copies of the top-grossing superhero film "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's" soundtrack album titled "Awesome Mix Vol. 2" are now available at Astroplus/Astrovision stores across the Philippines, which come with a free "mixtape" luggage tag or padlock for each purchase at P525.00 only.
The album, which debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200 chart, consists of 14 mostly '70s throwback songs that writer-director James Gunn had picked and built into the screenplay. Mr. Gunn said in a statement, "We had 'Awesome Mix Vol. 1' last time, and this time we have 'Awesome Mix Vol. 2.' It was so important that it's actually part of the film's title this time around, As most people know, [Star-Lord, the film's superhero] Peter Quill's mom made the first tape for a slightly younger boy, and she made the second tape for a slightly older boy. So, in many ways, the songs reflect the story."
He added, "...we have a real amazing group of songs that, like in the first movie, I wrote into the script. They're part of the storytelling, Each song is very specific to the scene where it's placed."
These songs include (1) "Mr. Blue Sky" - Electric Light Orchestra, (2) "Fox on the Run" - Sweet, (3) Lake Shore Drive - "Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah, (4) "The Chain" - Fleetwood Mac, (5) "Bring it On Home to Me" - Sam Cooke, (6) "Southern Nights" - Glen Campbell, (7) "My Sweet Lord" - George Harrison, (8) "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" - Looking Glass, (9) "Come a Little Bit Closer" - Jay and the Americans. (10) "Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang" - Silver, (11) "Surrender" - Cheap Trick, (12) "Father and Son" - Cat Stevens, (13) "Flash Light" - Parliament, and (14) "Guardians Inferno" (an original song) - The Sneepers featuring David Hasselhoff.
This album's predecessor "Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Mix Vol. 1" reached a platinum status, which sold at least 1.7 million copies.
Marvel Studio's "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," which stars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord, Peter Quill) , Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Vin Diesel (Baby Groot), and Bradley Cooper (Rocket), "continues the team's adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill's true parentage."
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is now showing in cinemas.
