Reprise Records' Green Day announced today that they are working with Nokia and AT&T to launch Nokia Music, a new music streaming service offering consumers free and unlimited access to playlists and songs from a global catalogue boasting 17 million tracks. To celebrate the launch of Nokia Music, the multi-platinum selling and Grammy Award-winning band have created a series of exclusive playlists and will shortly announce a very special kick-off concert.

For details on the launch event, fans can visit the Nokia Music/AT&T tab on the band's Facebook page: www.facebook.com/greenday. Follow the social chatter by using #NOKIAMUSICATTGREENDAY.

Nokia Music is a mobile experience exclusive to Nokia Lumia handsets currently available at all AT&T stores. AT&T is the nation's largest 4G network. Consumers can stream unlimited music from a suite of over 150 exclusive playlists that are curated and kept up to date by an expert team of US based musicologists. The playlists span a wide spectrum of musical genres from underground Detroit house tracks to New York Philharmonic favorites.

Nokia Music also offers playlists created by global artists such as Green Day, who are an active part of the service curating their namesake playlists. Moreover, music fans can create their own personal soundtrack by selecting the Nokia Music 'CREATE' function that generates a playlist based on, and inspired by, the artists they love.

Fans will also be able to access three special playlists, curated by Green Day exclusively for Nokia Music and AT&T. "We are excited to team up with Nokia Music and AT&T and for our fans to hear ¡UNO! for the first time on our Facebook page," said the members of Green Day.
Jyrki Rosenberg VP of Entertainment at Nokia said: "We are absolutely delighted to be working with Green Day to launch Nokia Music.

"The USA is the most vibrant and competitive digital music market in the world -- by a wide margin. We have worked extra hard to ensure our service meets the expectations of the demanding, active and inspired music fans in the US. I would like to challenge everyone to try Nokia Music and see just how easy and enjoyable the service is to use."

Green Day is currently preparing for the release of their trilogy of new albums -- Green Day ¡Uno!, Green Day ¡Dos!, and Green Day ¡Tré! -- on September 25th, 2012; November 13th, 2012, and January 15th, 2013, respectively.

Green Day were kids from working-class backgrounds who came of age in the underground punk scene in Berkeley. Though they had already released two albums (1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk), the band truly announced its arrival with 1994's Dookie, a dynamic blast of exuberant punk-pop that sold 15 million copies and earned the band its first Grammy® Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. Over the years, Green Day continued to top the charts with the subsequent studio albums Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning, while entertaining millions of fans with their frenetic live shows. But it was their landmark 2004 album American Idiot that launched Green Day into the stratosphere. American Idiot debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, earned seven Grammy® nominations (winning two, including Best Rock Album), and raised the bar for modern rock and roll. In 2009, Green Day released 21st Century Breakdown, which won a 2010 Grammy® Award for Best Rock Album. It spawned two hit singles: the gold "Know Your Enemy," which was the first song ever to top Billboard's Rock, Alternative, and Mainstream Rock charts simultaneously, and the double-platinum "21 Guns," which earned them three 2009 MTV Video Music Awards including Best Rock Video. Green Day also took home an American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Rock Music Artist. Later that year, Green Day collaborated with the Tony Award-winning director of Spring Awakening, Michael Mayer, for the stage musical American Idiot. The play bowed at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2009 and set attendance records during its limited engagement. The play went on to Broadway and ran for a year at the St. James Theatre and won two Tony Awards. The North American Tour of the stage musical is currently touring North America and will launch in the United Kingdom later this year.
