World renowned Mexican-American singer/songwriter Lila Downs is to perform April 12th at the Paramount Theatre. Tickets are on sale now starting at $25.
Lila Downs is best known for her border-blending music that's topped charts in cities worldwide and garnered her two Latin Grammys, a Grammy and several nominations. Her music is influenced by her Oaxacan background and reflects her life experiences; shining light on social justice issues she's passionate about -- especially immigration. Her unique sound combines a range of genres from traditional folk to hip-hop, blues, jazz and reggae.
Lila's most notable album "Pecados y Milagros" received a Grammy and a Latin Grammy and hit double-platinum sales in Mexico. She's gone on to perform at several prestigious venues including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall and the Festival of Sacred Music-Hollywood Bowl. She also performed at the 75th Annual Academy Awards, the 2012 Latin Grammy Awards and was invited to sing at the White House.
Her newest album, Balas y Chocolate, was released last week to rave reviews. Her US tour kicks off in Austin, Texas on April 12.
