Platinum selling singer/songwriter and 2013 Grammy winner Billy Vera is gearing up for a string of dates with his Big Band Jazz Orchestra at Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood along with special guest Jazz recordist artist Tamela D'Amico. Billy is thrilled to continue to share with fans his first ever album recorded with a large jazz orchestra entitled Big Band Jazz- a tribute to the great black songwriters of the 20s, 30s, and 40s.
"Play that again! That's one of the most brilliant performances I've ever heard. Who the hell is this kid?" asked Frank Sinatra to a lady friend, upon seeing a video of Billy Vera singing his #1 smash "At This Moment." And every time he visited the lady, he made her play it again. Lucky patrons of Catalina Jazz Club clamor for Billy to play this tune at the close of his set with its all new big band arrangement.
"This is the album I've always wanted to make, It's my dream album with a Big Band in the Basie-Ellington tradition," Billy remarks. "Having spent the early part of my career working in the Rhythm & Blues field, I've always wanted to tribute the great those great songwriters" he continued. Dates for his concert performances along with Tamela D'Amico at the venue are: March 8, June 15, October 14, and December 21, 2014. http://www.catalinajazzclub.comVideos
