The Cornelia Street Cafe will host Ghosts in the Ocean and John O'Gallagher Trio tonight, October 14 at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Ghosts in the Ocean (Carol Lipnik and Matt Kanelos) will perform "Songs To Celebrate The End Of The World" with special guest Frank Tedesso at 6 p.m.

Acclaimed avant-chanteuse siren of song Carol Lipnik's reverb drenched multi octave dramatic vocals paired with Matt Kanelos' minimalist and ecstatic piano stylings and vocal harmonies artfully deconstruct, explore, and reinvent apocalyptic cover songs by such artists as Leonard Cohen, Richard Thompson, Wilco, Tim Buckley, and Wall Of Voodoo. Their stark, original arrangements distill and lay bare the deepest emotional essence in an evening of songs for the end of the world.

John O'Gallagher Trio (John O'Gallagher, alto saxophone, compositions; Ben Monder, guitar; Dan Weiss, drums) will perform at 8:30 p.m. This new trio features three of New York's most distinct and original voices on their instruments. World premieres of new works by O'Gallagher will be performed. O'Gallagher's music melds a kind of classical aesthetic with a daring wide-open approach that achieves an organic balance between intricate interplay and free improvisation.
