George Cole and "Eurocana" are set to dazzle Studio 55's stage with original music, melodies and lyrics that evoke a time gone by. "Hot Jazz" with an acoustically flavored French string-driven sound that invokes the dynamic styles of Gypsy jazz and swing a la Stephane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. George Cole has been influenced in his original music by the great composers of the swing era like Cole Porter and George Gershwin. His exciting band "Eurocana" threads together the material to create a riveting synthesis of Eurocana flair.
This year alone "Eurocana" has had successful engagements at Yoshi's Oakland, Sutter Creek Theatre and the Piedmont Piano Company. In May they appeared live on Capitol Public Radio's "Insight" program with host Beth Ruyak in Sacramento. Beth invited the ensemble to return again for a future performance on her program. George also had a "Guitar Guru" moment with Stockton Record writer Tony Sauro.
"Eurocana" classically trained highlights the amazing talents of composer-lyricist George Cole on lead guitar and vocals, the classically trained superb talent of Echae Kang on violin, French Gypsy guitar master Mathias Minquet Villarino and the newest addition to the group, the incomparable bassist and vocalist Kaeli Earle. “Eurocana” is not only the name of George's band but is descriptive of a musical genre. It is a celebration of the great American Songbook with inspiration from the Gypsy fueled jazz of era of 1920's Paris.
George Cole is an Internationally renowned acoustic guitar virtuoso who pours passion and every fiber of his soul into the music. His original material is a paen to the melodies of a time gone by, the swing music of the 1920s through 1940s subtly mixed with a modern lyrical twist. When George Cole and "Eurocana" perform, audiences are spellbound, greeting the different flights of musical instrumental solos with rounds of heartfelt, joyful applause.

Opened in February 2012, Studio 55 Marin is a combination performance hall and recording studio. It is associated with newly opened music school, Roots Music Marin, a non-profit music school devoted to the teaching of roots music, such as Celtic and American instrumental music. Studio 55 Marin's auditorium comfortably seats 150 people and evokes an intimate house concert ambiance with the added benefits of a large stage, good sight lines, fantastic acoustics and an excellent sound system. All shows are recorded and videotaped. Consequently the resulting audio and video recordings are given to the bands/performers. Parking is easy and ample.
