April is filled with huge names at Blue Note Hawaii, bringing some of entertainment's most recognizable artists to Hawaii's premier live music venue. The month kicks off with the best and brightest of the local music scene, including Henry Kapono's Artist 2 Artist Series featuring Amy H?naiali'i, singer-songwriter Kimi' Miner and Ginai performing the music of Anita Baker, Toni Braxton and Roberta Flack. Music legend George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic performs for the first and last time in Hawaii in four shows only, followed by Doolin Rakes who share their own brand of lively Irish and Celtic tunes. Andy Bumatai's Comic to Comic Series continues with rising local comedian Tumua Tuinei. Eighties and nineties pop superstar Taylor Dayne will have you dancing, as will Hawaiian Swing Big Band Kahulanui. Next up, singer--songwriter and multi-talented instrumentalist Elijah Sky brings his reggae style to the stage and Hawaii's own Gypsy 808 plays sets inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt and the Quintette du Hot Club de France. Local favorite Kristian Lei performs the best of Broadway for one night only and the incomparable Jake Shimabukuro returns from his world tour to celebrate with us. The month also highlights four shows by movie star Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, where he will take your questions, ask you trivia questions and play classic jazz with his band. Gypsy jazz continues with the Hotclub of Hulafrisco, featuring Hawaii favorites Sonny Silva and Duane Padilla alongside some of the world's most respected players in the genre - Paul Mehling, Isabelle Fontaine and special guest Simon Planting. Lastly, an evening with Willie K puts the cherry on top of an incredible month of diverse music and entertainment.

A 15% kama'aina discount is available to residents for most shows. This is available online with code MAHALO15, as well as in person at the box office. Parking is validated at the OHANA East Hotel for $6 for four hours, and at the Outrigger Waikiki for $15 for four hours valet.

Amy's albums have also garnered 22 N? H?k? Hanohano Awards - Hawai'i's equivalent to the GRAMMY' Awards.

George Clinton revolutionized R&B during the '70s, twisting soul music into funk by adding influences from late-'60s acid heroes Jimi Hendrix, Frank Zappa and Sly Stone. The Parliament Funkadelic machine ruled black music during the '70s, capturing over 40 R&B hit singles (including three number ones) and recording three platinum albums. These shows will mark Clinton's first and last shows in Hawaii, as he wraps up his career with one final farewell tour.

Doolin Rakes made a name for themselves as the longest-running band engagement in Chinatown. Crowds, eager to be lifted by their lilting rollicking sound, have packed houses week after week. The band stands out among Hawaii bands for their unique repertoire and powerfully talented line up. This special evening will feature their entire range of material from soulful ballad to lilting fiddle tunes and gleeful audience participation and powerful rock anthems.

Local comedy legend, Andy Bumatai, continues his Comic to Comic series with up-and-coming local comedian Tumua Tuinei. Tumua Tuinei has been doing comedy in Hawai'i for 3 years. He has been a local headliner and has opened up for numerous comedians including Andy Bumatai, Augie T and Paul Ogata. While at the University of Hawaii, the former UH Football Player found his passion for stand-up comedy through a comedy class. His inspiration for his material comes from his local family and the hilarious situations that he experiences on a daily basis

GRAMMY' nominated and N? H?k? Hanohano Award-winning group Kahulanui is a nine-piece Hawaiian Swing Band from the Big Island of Hawaii, comprised of four horns, guitar, bass, ukulele, drums and steel. Dubbed "The Hawaiian Kings of Swing," they are known for their innovative and creative arrangements.

Singer, songwriter and multi-talented instrumentalist, Elijah Sky released his first solo album, "Heart Over Hype," in September 2018. Prior to embarking upon a solo career in the islands, Elijah lived in Arcata, CA, where he sang with reggae group The Dubbadubs for almost four years. The DubbaDubs opened for artists like Black Uhuru, Alborosie and Fortunate Youth, and played at Reggae on The River in 2016. Now back in his home state, Elijah has embarked on a solo career focusing on a reggae sound distinctive to the islands.

Inspired by the music of Django Reinhardt and the Quintette du Hot Club de France, Hawaii's very own Gypsy 808 plays mainly swing dance music of the '30s and '40s in the gypsy jazz style. Many of the tunes are drawn from the Great American Songbook, but several composed by Reinhardt and others are unique to gypsy jazz.

Kristian Lei: The Best of Hawai'i, to Broadway, to the World!

Hawai'i-International singer-songwriter Kristian Lei has starred in many roles such as Kim from Miss Saigon-Germany, Princess Nala and Rafiki in the Festival of the Lion King-Hong Kong, Tuptim in The King and I, TiMoune in Philippine tour of Once on This Island and is currently starring as Kei in MVT-Hawaii Premiere of Allegiance, the musical at the Hawai'i Theatre. Kristian released two N? H?k? Hanohano Award-nominated CDs entitled "Take My Hand" and "On a Personal Note." She is also the Founder of the non-profit organization Honolulu Broadway Babies and JETH School of Continuing Education and Performing Arts, in dedication to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Jake Shimabukuro can still vividly remember the first time he held a ukulele at age four when his mother gave him his first ukulele lesson. It was an encounter that would shape his destiny and give the world one of the most exceptional and innovative uke players in the history of the instrument-an artist who has drawn comparisons to musical titans such as Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis.

Django Reinhardt is rightly hailed as one of the greatest guitar players that ever lived, but many people praising his accomplishments as a guitarist tend to overlook his roots in Gypsy culture and the musically fertile, polyglot Paris of the 1920s. The Blue Note shows will feature Django's greatest compositions along with 50th anniversary celebrations of music from the Abbey Road album. This is in keeping with the Hot Club of San Francisco's latest album John, Paul, George and Django featuring some of the genre's most celebrated players Paul Mehling, Isabelle Fontaine, Duane Padilla, Sonny Silva and Special guest Simon Planting.
