The Lone Sharks quickly gained a foothold in the late 80s Hamptons music scene, when bars and bands were plentiful and audiences loyal and robust. Joe Lauro brought the big upright bass sound to the band's increasingly swinging style. 2005's "A Lone Sharks Six-Pack" featured classic rockabilly and R&B in addition to Gene's "Sherri on the Ferry" (dedicated to their Shelter Island fans), and the lilting ballad "Who's Sharing the Moon," later performed as a duet by Gene and local great, Nancy Atlas in her live CD/DVD set. Two subsequent full-length CDs 2008's "What Happened" and 2009's "Rhythm & Twang" further the cause of all things Lone Sharks. Two of Gene's originals tunes were featured in the premier season of the FX Network's “Justified.”

In the course of maintaining their status as "Best of the Best" (Dan's Papers and Hamptons Magazine) the Lone Sharks have shared billing and/or backed-up NRBQ, LINK WRAY, SLEEPY LaBEEF, WANDA JACKSON, BILL KIRCHEN, the Who's John Entwistle, THE HIGHWAY QC's and on one unforgettable night, TINY TIM. Gene and the band are proud to be a part of a thriving live music scene.
