Gateway Men's Chorus (GMC) invites you to come out for a night and join them for When We No Longer Touch: A Series of Songs For Survival. This ONE NIGHT ONLY concert features the voices of GMC and Indianapolis Men's Chorus at 8 p.m., Saturday March 20, 2010 at The 560 Music Center at the western edge of The Loop in University City.

Each Chorus will perform separately in the first half of the show and then take the stage together for When We No Longer Touch. With Dr. Jeffrey Carter returning to the podium and Al Fischer on piano, GMC is delighted to offer a diverse mix of music written and arranged specifically for them. They will showcase numbers written by Missouri native and Indiana resident Greg Gilpin. "Audiences expect a different kind of show from GMC and this one is guaranteed to exceed those expectations!" promises Carter.

GMC first performed When We No Longer Touch in 1994 under the direction of James Nacy. "After reviewing the score and lyrics, I felt it imperative to revisit this cycle of songs. This is some of the most beautiful music I've ever had the honor to conduct with any chorus," explains Carter. Originally written in response to the AIDS pandemic, it follows the course of the Latin Requiem mass. The deftly crafted orchestral score by Kristopher Jon Anthony and lyrics by Peter McWilliams guide the audience through the stages of grief and loss with the journey ending at hope, acceptance and ultimately, peace and hope.

This beautifully moving piece of work embraces the universal human experience of love, loss and growth. The music is guaranteed to stay with you long after the concert has ended. It's liberating without being dismissive; it's real without being heavy handed and it's hopeful yet realistic. Paradoxically, therein lies its beauty.

General admission seating is $25 and $20. Tickets are available online with NO ticket surcharge at www.gatewaymenschorus.org, from any chorus member, Botanicals Design Studio, Left Bank Books and Mokabe's. Discount seats for groups of 10 or more, students and senior citizens at just $15 are available by contacting the GMC office at 314-289-4169.

The men of the Gateway Men's Chorus sing to affirm the gay experience and promote a culture of diversity and acceptance. The Gateway Men's Chorus is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation.
