Today, GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer Gallant is edging his way into the release of a body of work titled, "This Does Not Fit". It's a narrative on his experience, one filled with the pressures of what it means to be a "black artist" in today's landscape. As urban music moves to the forefront of American culture, so does the lifestyle that surrounds it. For Gallant, his interests lie less in the clubs and more in the process of creating.
In "Ha Ha No One Can Hear You!" , Gallant pokes fun at the lifestyle with lyrics like "Do you wanna see what life's like on the outside of your inner-circle baby? Get drunk and get some money". The tongue in cheek perspective is balanced with a self-reflective nature we've all come to know him from. "Cause even when the world calls out your name, you answer from a padded room" - a depiction of his inner turmoil. Gallant has come to terms with the fact that he doesn't fit. And he's celebrating it.
Right now, he's putting the finishing touches on his anxiously awaited second full-length-coming soon. The record will also boast the 2018 single "Doesn't Matter." The track generated 3.4 million-plus Spotify streams, attracted A$AP Ferg for its official remix, and earned the endorsement of The Fader, Consequence of Sound, Complex, to name a few.
Gallant is set to tour North America this fall, kicking off October 18 at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta before rolling through major markets coast to coast.
Balancing vulnerability and vitality as well as sentimentality and seduction, Gallant proved himself to be an iconoclastic presence for R&B upon emerging in 2014. His breakout debut Ology landed a GRAMMY® nomination for "Best Urban Contemporary Album," bowed in the Top 25 of the Billboard Top 200, placed on Entertainment Weekly's "25 Best Albums of 2016 (So Far)," and incited applause from The Guardian, Pitchfork, Q, and more. Between touring with John Legend and gracing the stage at Coachella, he delivered unforgettable performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Later... with Jools Holland, and NBC's Today, to name a few. With all of these accolades, Gallant laid the foundation to make a big and bold statement with his forthcoming second offering.
